The firm began as a civil litigation law practice handling the defense of virtually all types of casualty loss claims. These have included claims for negligence, products liability, premises liability, slip and fall, employment claims, fire losses, agricultural crop losses, toxic torts, road maintenance and design claims, misrepresentation and insurance coverage issues.

We have represented counties, municipalities and individuals in civil rights litigation involving prisoners and suspects claiming damages and injuries arising out of actions during arrest as well as incarceration.  We have represented the officers, county officials and health care providers in these actions.

Our attorneys understand the issues and complexities surrounding major building projects.  We have represented parties involved in every part of the construction industry, including contractors, developers, engineers, investors, lenders, owners, title insurers and others.

Our firm represents both Employers and Employees and our practice encompasses a wide area of employment litigation, including; discrimination, sexual harassment, discipline and termination, formation of policies and procedures, employment contract disputes, wage and hour disputes and employee benefits.

The majority of the firm’s casualty loss work has involved bodily injury claims.  As a result, the firm developed close relationships with physicians and hospital personnel in the medical community.  Our practice then expanded to include the specialized area of defending these same physicians, surgeons and hospitals against claims of professional malpractice.  We have defended claims against all health care providers including but not limited to physicians, surgeons, hospitals, dentists, physical therapists and medical clinics.  We have represented health care providers in claims related to dermatology, emergency medicine, general surgery, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, dental, reconstructive surgery, obstetrics, gynecology and urology.

Our attorneys have experience in both advocating for the injured and defending individuals and insurance companies from negligence and intentional tort claims.  Our familiarity with both sides of personal injury litigation give us a unique perspective that we use to the advantage of all our clients.

We have special expertise in the handling of product liability and heavy equipment accident claims.  The majority of these claims have involved accidents with industrial equipment tools, mobile telescoping cranes, tractors, combines, wheel rims and saws.  Because of the number of these cases handled by the firm, we have encountered the same experts used by the plaintiff’s bar time and again.  As a result, we have developed a bank of these experts’ depositions to draw upon in pending and future cases and have formed an effective defense team with appropriate experts selected for each case.

Our attorneys have experience in will and trust contests, financial elder abuse, accounting disputes, trustee and personal representative removals, and both fiduciary representation and claims against fiduciaries.  We use our experience to realistically evaluate and recommend the best course of action to be taken by our clients in complex probate disputes to minimize both the financial and emotional costs of probate litigation.

Our litigation practice includes the defense of real estate brokers and agents in errors and omissions cases.  We have extensive experience dealing with these types of claims and have developed special procedures for defending agents, brokers and companies faced with such claims.  Other areas of real estate litigation in which we have represented clients include adverse possession, enforcement of restrictive covenants, breach of warranty, misrepresentation, foreclosure and specific performance.

The firm has experience in estate planning, probate estate and trust administration.  The firm’s estate planning and probate practice includes the planning for and probate of small to very large estates.  We prepare simple wills, trust wills, living wills, inter-vivos trusts and durable powers of attorney.

Our firm’s business and corporate practice is diverse.  We have experience in corporate formation and structure, corporate governance, rights and duties of officers, directors and shareholders, preventive law practices to reduce or eliminate potential problems for small companies, buy-sell agreements, redemption agreements, employment contracts, non-competitive covenants, mergers and dissolutions.

We prepare agreements for the sale, financing and development of real property, including construction, engineering and architectural design agreements.  We foreclose and defend against the foreclosure of security interests in both real and personal property, and handle actions arising out of eminent domain and assessment proceedings.  We advise upon and prepare contracts for commercial transactions in which our clients are involved and have experience in creditor-debtor relations and bankruptcy law.
